Project Specification: Installation of a helical piled foundation to carry a wind turbine. These piles were installed in 6m sections. Project Duration: The foundation was completed in 3 days using a 3 man installation team.
Why Terrawise?
Terrawise achieved huge time savings for the client, with the installation of helical pile foundations for the wind turbines. This meant that there were no wet trays, no concrete saving time, and the structure could be erected straight away, as there was no curing time.
If a concrete foundation was installed it would have taken a full week to dig the hole, then 28 days before erecting it.
The helical pile foundation was installed in 2 days.
Helical Pile foundations minimise the environmental impact to the ground, as there is no waste generated. Also, there is no decommissioning of structures meaning the reduction of carbon foot print for removing foundations after the life span.
In line with the HA (Highways Agency) policy, Terrawise spent half the amount of time on site, meaning staff are not exposed to the dangers of traffic for long periods of time.
